20th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT Brahms' German Requiem radiates technical mastery and strong emotional appeal. The composer chose the non-denominational text himself so that it reflected on faith in the resurrection rather than fear of the day of judgement. Vaughan Williams' beautiful, lyrical Serenade to Music (choral version) is a setting of text from Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice".
